My Free Shipping Story

My membership began in January of 2007.  After paying for an online order, I received a notice that I qualified for Free Shipping.  I followed the link and was taken to FreeShipping.com.  The deal was, I could sign up for 30 days, absolutely free, and take advantage of all that being a member has to offer - PLUS they would send me a rebate for the shipping cost on the order I just placed!

That's how it all got started.  I got my rebate from FreeShipping.com, signed up for their membership and paid the annual fee (around $84).  "That's a lot of money!" you say.  Yes, it is...until you get it all back and start MAKING money!  That's right!  

I'm half way into my second year now and I've already received $159 in shipping rebates ~ so my annual fee has paid for itself plus $75!

But wait, it gets better.  Not only do they offer free shipping TO your house, they offer free shipping if you need to RETURN something as well!  And you can return the item for ANY reason!!!

Now there are some requirements, of course.  Here are the two main ones.  The rest you can read up on at their website.

1. All of the benefits that FreeShipping.com offers are valid to you as a member, as long as you use one of the credit cards you register with them when you sign up.  
2. And for the continued Free Shipping rebates, you need to go to their website first, then click on the merchant link that you want to shop at.  True, they don't have every Internet retailer on the face of the earth.  But they've got a WHOLE lot.  Over 1,000 of the best, in fact.

What I do is I go ahead and find what it is I'm looking for on the internet.  Then I go to FreeShipping.com and 9 times out of 10 they either have the merchant I'm looking for OR they have another merchant that sells the same item I'm looking to purchase, at a similar enough cost that, given the free shipping, still saves you money!

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? Maybe for some people.  Here's the catch.  In order for this to work, you have to send in the rebate forms right away after your online purchase, every time.  They make their money on folks who forget about the service.  So if you can be faithful to send your rebate claim in right away every time, you could end up saving a lot of money with this service.
